Sienna Branch Library offers free summer movies

Sienna Branch Library will feature a free Summer Movie Series in July. A different family movie will be shown each week in the Large Meeting Room of the library, located at 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City.

On Tuesday, July 2, enjoy an award-winning historical drama set during the American Civil War.  America’s president faces continuing carnage on the battlefield as well as contentious disagreements with members of his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves. The movie stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, and Tommy Lee Jones. This film is rated PG-13. Showtime is 6:00 pm.

The feature film on Friday, July 12, is an animated feature starring the voices of Ben Stiller, Frances McDormand, and David Schwimmer. Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe are still fighting to get home to their beloved home in New York. Accompanied by King Julien, Maurice, and the Penguins, the group travels through Europe, where they find the perfect cover – a traveling circus — which they reinvent with their own personal style and flare. The movie is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm.

The series continues on Tuesday, July 16, with a movie is based on the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All-American football player and first-round draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family. The movie stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates, and Quinton Aaron, and is rated PG-13. Showtime is 6:00 pm.

The special feature on Friday, July 26, is a 2008 family comedy starring Adam Sandler and Keri Russell. Skeeter Bronson is a hotel handyman who finds his life changed forever when the magical bedtime stories that he tells his niece and nephew start to mysteriously come true. This film is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm.
