Learn how to recognize reasons of children’s behavior
George Memorial Library will present “Understanding Child Behavior: Helping Children Succeed,” on Saturday, July 27, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 1001 Golfview in Richmond.
Children who are acting out may be doing so because they feel that their needs are not being met. In this program, experienced parent coach Jacqueline Ryan-Newman will discuss common childhood behaviors and how a child’s unmet needs may lead to negative behavior. Those attending should gain a better understanding of some of the key factors that influence a child’s thoughts and feelings. By knowing the issues that lead to negative behavior, parents, teachers, and childcare providers may fulfill the needs of the child before the acting out begins.
Jacqueline Ryan-Newman is the director, parent coach, and trainer for a community-based training program called FLUID (Family Life Under Inspired Direction). She has worked with Children’s Protective Services as a parent trainer with emphasis on behavior modification and intervention, and has also been a presenter for staff-development programs at Lamar Consolidated ISD.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
