Missouri City’s 4th of July Celebration offers family fun and fireworks
Missouri City invites citizens and families across the region to come and celebrate the 4th of July at the City’s 29th annual event that will feature a “Messy Station” for youngsters, a breath-taking zip line, and a spectacular fireworks show over the lake at Buffalo Run Park. Festivities at the Park, 1122 Buffalo Run Blvd., will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.; the fireworks show begins around 9:15 p.m.
Children will have a blast at the “Messy Station”—for a $2 fee, participants can buy a can of silly string to use in a designated location. And, this year marks the first time that a zip line will be part of the event. To enjoy the scenic glide, participants will be safely connected to a zip line; a ride operator will open a rotating safety gate and “off you will go” on a 20-foot ride through the air that will end at the Park’s main pavilion.
Other attractions at this year’s 4th of July Celebration include a moonwalk, a rock wall and two mechanical bulls. All proceeds will benefit the Mayor’s Youth Commission.
Bring the entire family along and don’t forget the blankets and lawn chairs to view the fantastic fireworks! Food will be available for purchase. Parking is available nearby at Thurgood Marshall High School.
Missouri City prohibits the use of fireworks inside City limits; it is also illegal to transport or store fireworks within City limits.
City offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4; residents who participate in the Municipal Solid Waste Program will receive regular pickup service.
