The Fort Bend Foodie 07/03/13
1550 Lake Pointe Pkwy. Ste. 100
Sugar Land, TX
Cuisine: Pizza, Pasta, and Wine Bistro
This is a rather small place in a strip center with a nice patio view of Lake Pointe Plaza. The menu is rather limited, offering 6 appetizers, 6 salad options, 8 pizza varieties, 8 entrées, and a couple of sandwiches. The dessert menu had a similar number of options and included port wines and champagne. They had an extensive wine list and offered tastes of any you might consider ordering before you buy a glass.
The Seafood Risotto Cake in diavolo sauce was a mixture of shrimp, scallops, and crab breaded and fried similar to a crab cake. It was very tasty without being overly greasy. The pizzas are a generous size. The Bolognese pizza was excellent. It had a thin crust with a nice blend of sauce, mozzarella cheese, red, yellow & green bell peppers, Bolognese meat, black olives, mushrooms and fresh basil. Their signature dessert is the Nona Pillow’s Tiramisu. It was rich with flavor, but served in a rocks glass and seemed more like a chunky pudding than a cake.
Overall, the food was very tasty and healthy. Whole-wheat pasta is offered as well as gluten free options, and the pizza was noticeably fresh and hot, not laden with fat, and had a thin crust. The service was commendable, very attentive without being overbearing. This is a casual un-assuming place with health-conscious food at a reasonable price and a nice ambiance. I would like to see a few more items on the menu, but everything ordered was very good. I would definitely eat there again.
Overall Rating: 4 1/2 stars.
