Last Friday morning Fort Bend sheriff’s deputies responded to the 911 call in the 23900 block of Indian Hills Way in Falcon Point subdivision, which is next to the Fort Bend/Harris County line.
According to Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel, about 8 a.m. that morning a woman heard her doorbell ring several times, when she got to the front door, no one was there. However, she did notice a shadow in the back yard of the house next door and heard the sound of breaking glass so she called 911, said Haenel.
Deputies responded and the scene became a multi-agency effort. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office helped set the perimeter, Katy Police provided a thermal imaging device so deputies could determine how many suspects were inside the home and a K-9 Unit from the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office entered the residence along with Fort Bend deputies to retrieve the suspect, Omar Hassan, 17, who was hiding under insulation in the attic.
As deputies investigated, they discovered three backpacks loaded with the owner’s valuables. Haenel identified some of the contents as cash, jewelry, game systems, cameras, camera equipment, iPads and laptops.
Omar Hassan, 17, of Katy, was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation.
