Meadows Place says goodbye to city secretary
By Karen Daniels
The City of Meadows Place recently threw a brunch for outgoing City Secretary, Yolanda Wilson, to thank her for the dedication she has given to the City for the past year. “We are not celebrating that Yolanda is leaving,” Mayor Charles Jessup stipulated. “We are celebrating the time we’ve had her as part of our team.” Yolanda responded by saying, “I am deeply humbled having worked with such a loyal, dedicated, and hard working group of people. The employees and residents of Meadows Place will always have a special place in my heart.”
Wilson served an intricate role in streamlining services and technology upgrades that were necessary for the day to day operations and helping to bring the City of Meadows Place into the 21st century.
This wasn’t an easy decision for Ms. Wilson, who has lived in Fort Bend County for over 20 years; however, when her husband, Deon Wilson, received a job promotion that required a move to Dallas, she couldn’t say no. For a while, Ms. Wilson contemplated staying until the end of the year, but their daughter, Nasia, will start her high school career in the fall, and the decision for her to begin her freshman year with all the other incoming students was for the best. “This was a very difficult decision, but the Mayor agreed, family first.” Yolanda will continue to complete her certification classes for the Texas Municipal Courts program.
City staff will remember Ms. Wilson for her happy disposition and caring attitude. Good luck in the Big-D, Yolanda!
