This restaurant is in a prime location. On a Friday night there were many tables available, yet the hostess tried to seat us at a table right at the entrance of the kitchen. We asked for a different table away from the kitchen noise and she awkwardly obliged.
The menu was extensive but concise and well organized for easy reading. I was impressed to see gluten free and whole-wheat options offered.
The Portobello con Porto (sautéed Portobello mushroom in a port wine reduction over polenta) was an interesting appetizer, full of flavor and well plated. The Ravioli Quattro Formaggi, tossed with cherry tomato halves and leeks in a rich four-cheese sauce was a great choice, surpassing expectations. Slightly disappointing was the Tortellini di Pollo e Spinaci, whole-wheat tortellini filled with three cheeses in a tomato basil cream sauce. The sauce was good but the whole-wheat flavor in the tortellini was over-bearing and all you could taste. With the mushy texture of the filling, it tasted like a raw biscuit. On a happier note, the tiramisu was absolutely the best I have tasted, a grand encore to a pleasing meal.
The service was not bad, but the wait staff could use hospitality training and food service etiquette for a better experience. The food is a little pricey, but very good. Just be careful what you order. Generally it was a satisfying experience.
