Missoula Children’s Theatre to hold auditions in Sugar Land

It’s out of the tower and on the run as a zany cast of friends and foes help Rapunzel’s harrowing escape from the towering imprisonment of madame Gothel. Add a dash of French flair and pinch of personal triumph and friendship, and it’s a story that won’t soon be forgotten!

An audition for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Rapunzel will be held on Sept. 9, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., at the Imperial Park Recreation Center, 234 Matlage Way.

Those auditioning should arrive at 3 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition from 6-8 p.m.

Among the roles to be cast include Rapunzel, the princes, madame Gothel, Rapunzel’s parents, the wood elves, ears of corn and a potato, unicorns, pixies, gremlins, billy goats gruff, a troll, three bears, a beaver, ogres and mushrooms.

All students in kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary.  Assistant directors will also be cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup.  Tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 6-8 p.m. each day.

Rapunzel will be presented on Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., at the Sugar Land Auditorium, 226 Lakeview Drive. The production is being underwritten by the Sugar Land Parks and Recreation Department.

The Imperial Park Recreation Center is located next to Imperial Park and the T.E. Harman Center. For more information, call the center at (281) 275-2885.
