Meadows Place announces Jan Moore as new city secretary

By Karen Daniels

During the August City Council meeting, the City of Meadows Place welcomed their new City Secretary, Jan Moore. New to Texas, Moore spent the last 28 years living in Boca Raton, Florida, 13 of those years dedicated to her career in government. She has a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation and the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC), both earned from the International Institute of Municipal Courts.

Currently she is pursuing her Texas Municipal Clerk certification which will take 2 ½ years. For the past year, Ms. Moore has worked as the Assistant City Secretary for the City of Hedwig Village, located in Houston and similar in size to Meadows Place; with a scaled-back budget. Though she enjoyed her time there, and found the resident’s to be very friendly, Moore said she “wanted more responsibility and more of a challenge.”

When asked about her new job so far she said, “This is my dream job. Mayor Jessup is extremely supportive of his staff.” One of her new projects for the city will be to create a records management plan for city records that will be scanned and inventoried into a database, helping the City become more efficient and progressive.

Married to her husband, David Moore, for 12 years, they moved to the Houston area when a business opportunity presented itself for him. “We decided on a change of pace,” Jan Moore said of their decision to leave Florida. Ask any Texan and they’ll tell Jan she made the right decision. With their 6 year-old daughter Miranda, the Moore’s like to spend their personal time riding bikes, entertaining, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
