Fundraiser for WCJC Pioneer Band to help entertain U.S. Military

The 2012 Inspirational Country Music Vocal Duo of the Year, Branded, will perform at Wharton County Junior College on Saturday, Sept. 28 to raise funds for the WCJC Pioneer Band to entertain our nation’s military next spring. Admission is $10 per person for the 7 p.m. concert in Horton Foote Theatre.

Branded blends the talents of award-winning singers and songwriters Paul Staggs and Robert Welch of Conroe, Texas with three other instrumentalists and vocalists. Their unique style and tight harmonies have defined the genre of Christian Country earning them the title of Duo of the Year four times since 2005 and Song of the Year in 2008 for “Heroes.”

Among the songs that Branded has released in its eight studio CDs are “We Cry Out,” “What a Beautiful Name” and “Here For You.” The group’s music is ideal for audiences who desire uplifting family entertainment and heartfelt music.

The WCJC Pioneer Band is a wind ensemble composed of WCJC students with previous band experience who are selected through an audition. Members hope to raise enough money to cover their expenses to travel and perform at Fort Hood, near Waco, and Fort Bliss, near El Paso, during the college’s 2014 spring break.

The WCJC Pioneer Band is under the direction of Joe Waldrop, a military veteran.

Tickets for the Branded fundraising concert may be purchased by calling 979.532.6300. Tickets will also be sold prior to the concert beginning at 6 p.m.
