Jason Lane returns to Sugar Land
The First Half Freedom Division Champion Sugar Land Skeeters announced that left-handed pitcher Jason Lane will return to Sugar Land for its Atlantic League playoff run. Outfielders Ryan Langerhans, Steve Moss and right-handed pitcher Michael Nix have rejoined the club, while veteran outfielder Brian Burgamy has also recently signed with the Skeeters. The announcement was made by Skeeters Manager Gary Gaetti.
The Skeeters currently hold an Atlantic League all-time best record of 93-42 and maintain the best winning percentage in professional baseball (.689).
Lane comes to Sugar Land following 11 appearances (six starts) with the San Diego Padres’ Triple A Tucson club, posting a 2-2 record and a 5.24 ERA (27ER/46.1IP) with 33 strikeouts. In early July, the Texas native arrived in Sugar Land and played 36 games for the Skeeters, hitting .283 (32×113) with 10 doubles, four home runs and 25 RBI prior to resigning with Toronto in August.

During that span, he hit at a .343 (24×70) clip and collected five home runs and 15 RBI. Prior to joining the Mexican League this summer, Moss played 45 games with the Skeeters and maintained a .314 (55×175) average with six home runs and 31 RBI.
Nix returns to the Skeeters pitching staff following 10 appearances (nine starts) with the Chicago White Sox’ Double A Birmingham, posting a 3-4 record with a 5.64 ERA (33ER/52.2IP). He also made one start with Chicago’s Triple A Charlotte. Prior to signing with the White Sox organization in June, Nix was named the Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month in May and was 5-1 with a then-league best 1.81 ERA (9ER/44.2IP) in his first eight appearances (seven starts) with Sugar Land.
Burgamy, 32, joins Sugar Land following stops with the St. Paul Saints, the York Revolution and the Piratas de Campeche of the Mexican League, combining for a .332 (199×599) average with 41 homers and 132 RBI.
