October selections announced by Missouri City Branch Library book clubs
Whether you discovered a love of reading at age 16 or 60, and whether you enjoy a good love story or a gritty crime novel, Fort Bend County Libraries invites you to share that love of reading with other book lovers at one of Missouri City Branch Library’s book clubs. Four book clubs meet monthly at the library, located at 1530 Texas Parkway, and new members are always welcome.
Love a good love story or a chilling thriller? Members of the Talk Back Book Club meet to discuss general fiction, beginning at 11:00 am, in the Conference Room. The group will meet on Saturday, October 5, to discuss the Gulf Coast Reads book selection The Dog Stars, written by Peter Heller.
A book club for men, the “No Sweat Book Club,” will meet on Saturday, October 12, beginning at 11:00 am, in the Conference Room. The September book selection will be When You Are Engulfed in Flames, written by David Sedaris. This book club meets on the second Saturday of every month. Genres such as thrillers, biographies, and true-adventure stories will be discussed.
If mysteries and crime novels intrigue you, come to the Murder & Mayhem Book Club, which meets on the third Saturday of the month, beginning at 11:00 am, in the Conference Room. The book club will meet on October 19 to discuss Lowcountry Boil, written by Susan Boyer.
The Graphic Novel Book Club is a new book club for high school students who enjoy comic books and graphic novels. The group meets on the fourth Monday of every month, at 7:00 pm, in the library’s Conference Room. The book to be discussed on October 28 is Black Hole, written by Charles Burns.
The book clubs are free and open to the public. For more information, call the branch library at 281-238-2100 or the libraries’ Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
