Mark your calendar for the exciting return of Care 2 Chat

Shown (from left to right) are conference presenters: Lauren Phillips, M.D.; Karen Chitty-Boe, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital; Pamela Shaw, FBISD Volunteers & Partnerships Coordinator; and Kathryn Tart, Ed.D., R.N., UHV School of Nursing.

Fort Bend ISD will partner with Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital and the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing to present the Care 2 Chat Community Conference on Saturday, September 28, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the University of Houston Sugar Land campus. Generously underwritten by Johnson Development Corp., this free community event is open to parents, grandparents, community members, and adults who care about kids.

This inspiring event will provide participants with helpful information and insights on understanding and guiding children of all ages, tips on how to reduce stress and take care of themselves while balancing work and family, and more. Conference-goers will also be invited to attend three breakout sessions led by parenting and childcare experts, pediatricians and educators on topics such as:

• Navigating Your Way Through Puberty

• Shopping Tips, Lists and Recipes for Busy Families

• Motivating Your Child is as Easy as P.I.E.

• ACT/SAT Have No Fear!

• From the Playground to the Playing Field

• How to Pay For College Without Going Broke

• Coming to the Table to Fight Childhood Obesity

Between breakout sessions, participants will enjoy a complimentary breakfast and visiting 50 vendors, who will offer such services as free health screenings (including free flu shots for the first 200 participants). Guests can also register for door prizes, including an iPad donated by Memorial Hermann Credit Union. The event is free, but registration is required to secure a spot. To register, call 713-222-CARE (2273).
