Sugar Land Skeeters players Michael Nix (Pitcher), Kevin Rios (Infielder) and Adam Godwin (Outfielder) visited Oyster Creek Elementary School to congratulate fourth-grade student, Eduardo Guerra, on winning the Skeeters Reading Program contest.

Guerra’s name was drawn from a pool of students who participated in the program by reading four books over a four to eight-week period. As the winner, Guerra received four passes to attend a Skeeters’ Readers game and the opportunity to have Skeeters players visit his school.

The Sugar Land Skeeters, along with Minute Maid, believe that reading helps children and adults prepare for the game of life. Last year, Skeeters had more than 68,000 students participate in the reading program. The program promotes literacy in our community by providing incentives for students to grow as readers.
