Domestic Violence Awareness Month is October
Asians Against Domestic Abuse (AADA) has partnered with the Fort Bend County Women’s Center (FBCWC) to bring awareness against domestic violence during October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. AADA and FBCWC are hosting a “Voices Against Violence Reception” on Thursday, October 17 at the Sugar Land Town Square from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Guests will be greeted to music provided by M & M Events with DJ J. Brown, Brianna Rivera, and Reagan Scott, featuring One Beat, from Dance Du Coeur. James A. “Jimmy” Thompson, Mayor of Sugar Land will be the guest speaker and Sugar Land Town Square lights up with a candlelight vigil in memory of victims of domestic violence..
The mission of AADA is to prevent violence against women by strengthening and promoting equal and healthy family relations within the Asian community. They do this through public awareness, support systems, community empowerment and collaborations with organizations sharing similar goals.
