Possible Felony Lane Gang activity in Fort Bend
By LeaAnne Klentzman
In late September, sheriff deputies responded to a motor vehicle burglary on Crabb River Road. The victim told the deputy that between 6:15 and 6:35 in the parking lot of the Kids R Kids day care in the 1200 block of Crabb River Road someone broke out the driver’s side window of her car and stole a purse from inside the vehicle. She was able to describe the stolen purse, wallet and contents for the deputy.
According to Bob Haenel spokesman for the sheriff, “The victims contacted the deputies to report that one of the credit cards had been used at a nearby CVS pharmacy.” Further investigation revealed that stolen credit cards had been used at the Target in Rosenberg’s Brazos Town Center to purchase gift cards totaling $1,000 said Haenel.
Haenel explained that the three women suspects in this case are believed to be part of the Felony Lane Gang. An organized gang that has expanded from Florida across the United States that targets vehicles parked at day care centers most frequently visited by busy mothers who leave their purses behind in their cars.
In a flash, the thieves hit the cars, steal purses, wallets and valuables. Generally their first stop is the closest bank or department store. The name Felony Lane Gang derives from a practice of passing through the outside lane at the victim’s bank, and then sending the teller a check to cash with the victim’s ID explained Haenel.
