Teen shoots intruder at his home in Mission Oaks

Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers has issued a Special Crime Alert after a north Fort Bend County teen shot and killed a man who, along with an accomplice, had invaded his home after banging on the door.
Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel said on Friday afternoon, October 4 about 3:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting call at a home in the 17000 block of Manchester Point Lane in the Mission Oaks subdivision off FM 1464 near the Westpark Toll Way. Haenel said responding officers arrived to find the 18-year-old resident in good condition after he said two men broke into the house and he shot and killed one of them. The other suspect fled the scene in a dark blue Nissan Sentra.
The teen is the son of a Houston police officer. The family has lived in the neighborhood for nearly 10 years. At press time the deceased suspect has yet to be publicly identified and the only information on the second intruder is he fled the scene.
Information which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspect involved could earn a reward of up to $5,000.
