What a crazy, crazy, party…

By LeaAnne Klentzman

When Willie sang Turn out the lights, the party’s over… ‘All good things must end’,

did he really mean to knock someone’s lights out?

Well, Imagine this… Fight Nite at the Fort Bend County Fair, oops, I mean Cook Off night at the Fair turned into a melee – again. The story goes that about 11:30 Saturday night in the Cook Off area, a man, his wife, and their son, wandered upon a fight. Um, hum. Somehow, one man struck the son, so the father started swinging. Yep! That’s when the fur started fly’n!

Before it was over there were so many cops you’da thought they were filming a Burt Reynolds movie and there were easily double digit numbers of folks involved in the melee, many of whom were related to one another – Really!?! Quick, add more beer!

In the end, the father, you know, the one who threw the punch in honor of the son, well he was sent to Hermann Memorial in Houston via air ambulance suffering from a broken jaw, broken leg, and other non-specified injuries according to his better half. Along with “pop’s” wounds at least three others suffered injuries during the brawl. How’s that for family entertainment?

Copious quantities of beer + stupid = gotta call it a night, the party’s over.
