Student poetry competition festival set for April 2014
The Poetry Society of Texas has a long history of recognizing student poets, and since 1989 the society has offered contests for students from first grade through college and produced an anthology of the winning poems. These collections are awarded to the winning poets.
The student festival is held each year in April in Dallas and awards are presented to the top three winning students in each category. Students who are present read their prize poems. From entries in the annual contest of the society, poems are selected for two national contests, The Manningham Award and Student Award. These two contests often recognize the writing of Texas students.
