University Branch Library’s “Books-To-Film Redux” features remake of sci-fi class
The University Branch Library’s “Books-to-Film Redux” night will take place on Monday, October 28, beginning at 6:00 pm, in the Large Meeting Room of the library, located at 14010 University Blvd in Sugar Land, on the UH campus.
The movie to be featured is a 1977 adaptation of a classic science-fiction novel written by H.G. Wells. Michael York plays Braddock, a ship-wrecked man who floats ashore on an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean. He soon encounters the island’s inhabitants, including Dr. Moreau (played by Burt Lancaster) and a very unusual assortment of animals. After a few confrontations with the strange creatures, Braddock discovers that the eccentric Dr. Moreau is performing secret experiments on the animals of the island and turning them into humans.
Braddock’s attempts to leave the island are thwarted, and he finds himself in a race for his life. This film is rated PG-13.
