Bringing artists and art collectors together in Historic Rosenberg

Shown is Monroe Williams (2012 Mayor’s Choice winner) with Mayor Morales.

For over 50 years, the Art League of Fort Bend has been devoted to promoting high standards of fine art in Fort Bend County.

With the grand opening of its 5th Street Gallery scheduled for November 2, 2013, ALFB fulfills its long-term goal of bringing art, artists and art collectors together.

To celebrate the grand opening, ALFB presents its Fall Exhibition on the same date. Artwork of members will be on display, with the Honorable Mayor Vincent Morales presenting the Mayor’s Choice award. The beautiful Autumn Harvest painting by Monroe Williams won that honor in 2012.  Owners of Rosenberg businesses will also present special awards.

The beautiful gallery setting enhances the art experience for both artists and collectors. With its specialty hanging system and sage green walls, 5th Street Gallery brings a fresh environment to the art scene in historic Rosenberg.

5th Street Gallery provides exposure for artists, along with sales opportunity. For collectors, it is a place to leisurely view and purchase beautiful artwork created by local artists. Tuesdays through Saturdays, collectors can take their time to view artwork that appeals to them and frequently find the artist in residence at the Gallery.

The gallery adjoins the ALFB working studio, where artists may be found learning a new technique from a featured instructor or working on their latest masterpiece.

“We have a great event planned, combining the exhibition and the work of our gallery artists. We are looking for tremendous support from local businesses, and hope everyone will come out, enjoy the afternoon, and meet our artists,” said Diana Miller, President of ALFB. The Reception and Open House will be on November 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Founded in 1957, ALFB is a non-profit visual arts organization. “We offer artists of all ages and levels of achievement a chance to participate in juried shows and workshops, and to attend artist demonstrations. And we are doubly proud of our summer art enrichment program for children,” stated Miller.

The Art League of Fort Bend is a member of the regional Lone Star Art Guild. The annual convention of LSAG features demonstrations in all media by top Texas artists.

5th Street Gallery is located in the handicap-accessible Gates Fine Arts Center at the corner of 5th Street and Avenue I in Historic Downtown Rosenberg, Texas.
