SMSD participates in two donation drives

Shown in the photo are students from Stafford Intermediate School.

This week at SMSD, now through October 25, a donation drive benefitting the Fort Bend County Women’s Shelter is being held. Gently used clothing and items such as toys, dish wares, purses, jewelry and shoes are being requested to stock at the PennyWise Resale Center located in Stafford.

Other large items are appreciated (as long as they’re in working condition) and can be scheduled for pickup by calling 832-274-4542. “No item is too small to help someone in need.” This is a joint effort with Stafford Police Department and Stafford Fire Department with additional drop-off boxes available at their locations as well as SMSD.

Earlier this month, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, Stafford Intermediate School held a benefit for the cause in which students for $1 were able to forgo school uniforms and wear blue jeans and a pink shirt for one day.

All funds collected were donated to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Principal Charmaine Garcia said that she “would like to have a benefit every month for a worthy cause.” Another great tool used to teach students at SMSD.
