Dekkers Mesquite Grill

8506 Syms St. Fulshear, TX 77441

Cuisine: Grilled and fried chicken, beef, pork, and seafood dishes

This is the best-kept secret among the locals in Fulshear. It’s a fairly new place with classic Texas hill country architect and a large deck out front, where people can enjoy live entertainment on the weekends. Indoor dining was available also.

Typical offerings were soups, stuffed crab, seafood gumbo, various flatbreads, quail eggs, salads, burgers and other warm sandwiches, chicken fried steak, pork chops, rib eye, chicken and pasta, grilled and fried seafood, typical sides and desserts.

The chicken fried steak was huge, served over a bed of mashed potatoes. The fried catfish, grilled shrimp, and gumbo were all excellent and well seasoned. Homemade rolls were available for an extra charge and were quite worth it! Everything ordered was fresh, hot, well seasoned and very generously portioned.

The service was outstanding. The waiter went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and satisfied.

The entertainment that night was a guitarist playing and singing old classics. The weather was nice, the food great, the entertainment pleasant, and the service outstanding; a fun and very satisfying experience.

Overall Rating: 4 ½ stars.
