Ridge Point High School Band and Color Guard are headed to State
The Ridge Point High School Marching Band and Color Guard, led by Director Dr. Michael Barnes and Assistant Director Andrew Lee, have made school and district history by advancing to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. This is the first year that the band and color guard have advanced to the competition, and they are only the third Fort Bend ISD band to do so. They follow the Austin High School and Clements High School Bands.
Ridge Point joins Foster High School in being the only two bands in the area to advance to state after placing at the Area E Marching Contest, held October 26. They will compete against other top bands at the state contest in November at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.
Ridge Point holds an impressive performance record. Last school year, the band earned a UIL Sweepstakes Award after earning a First Division title at the UIL Marching Contest, Concert Contest and Sight-Reading Contest. They also earned five top awards including Best in Class, Best Color Guard, Best Visual Effect, Best Music Performance and Best Overall Effect at the U.S. Bands Marching Contest. The band recently earned a First Division and Outstanding Percussion title at the Katy Marching Festival, and a First Division title at the UIL Region Marching Contest.
