Quail Valley Ladies Golf Association donates $18,000 to First Tee Program

Once again the golfing ladies of the Quail Valley Ladies Golf Association have parlayed a trifecta win for the First Tee of Greater Houston at Quail Valley. Proceeds from their annual Invitational Golf Tournament, their ever popular silent auction and donations and sponsorships from individuals and businesses delivered for the 4th successive year a sizable donation to this organization.  Each year they have increased their donation level and this year it is an impressive amount of $15,000. Coupled with the coordinated donation of $,3000 from the Quail Valley Exchange Club, the First Tee at Quail Valley makes an $18,000 donation.

From a limited beginning 4 years ago of 19 kids, this program has now touched over 230 youths engaged in the various stages of the program and with an anticipation of 300 by Y2014. This growth is attributed to the support and commitment from the City, management of QV Golf Club and the generous donations of funds and time from the QVLGA, QVEC, local businesses and the many volunteers committed to the success of this program.

The First Tee Program creates many winners. Kids that master one or more of the 9 life core values  will be better prepared to make a positive difference at their schools, homes and even as adults as they move into the job market. Their communities will be winners as they bring these values into the public domain. Individuals and businesses that have committed time and money will have the satisfaction of knowing they have had an impact on preparing our youth for what they will experience as they move through life’s experiences.

Finally, there is much more work to be done if we are to experience the full benefit of this program. This will require that we continue to provide financial support to the QVLGA as they roll out plans for their Y2014 Golf event, consider volunteering your time as an instructor or administrator in the program and support those businesses and City programs involved in the program.

Our youth is our future and it is imperative that they have the opportunity to be involved in programs that prepare them for their future. The First Tee Program at Quail Valley is one of those opportunities.
