Roy Phillips Miers
Roy Phillips Miers, 72, of Sugar Land, TX passed away on October 3. He was born in Amarillo, Texas to the late Roy Samuel “Shorty” Miers and Mary Phillips Miers. Roy graduated from Dumas High School in 1959 and attended West Texas State University. He was actively involved in the Sugar Land Exchange Club, Sugar Land United Methodist Church as well as the Fort Bend Meals on Wheels. He has a long history of service to others and he will be remembered for his selfless involvement in numerous community organizations.
He is survived by his son Marc Miers, his wife Melissa and their son Duncan- all of Amarillo; and his daughter Marti Miers Mefford, her husband Bill and their sons, Eli and Isaiah- all of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by his former wife and long time friend Lana Miers of Amarillo, and his beloved sister Martha Miers Walter and her husband Clark Walter of New Braunfels, Texas as well as a large circle of relatives and dear friends who will miss his warm smile and hearty laughter.
Roy’s celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd at Sugar Land United Methodist Church. 431 Eldridge Road , Sugar Land, Texas 77478 , (281) 491-6041.
There will also be a graveside memorial held at the Dumas Cemetery on Friday, November 29th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Sugar Land Meals on Wheels or your favorite Charity.
