The Spartans Varsity Football Team will play the HISD Furr Brahmans  in the first round of the play-offs this Thursday!  The Spartans lost to the La Marque Lions 40-34 in a hard fought game on Friday to earn the distinction of District 24-3A runner-up.  Come out and support the Spartans Thursday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Butler Stadium located at 13755 South Main Street, Houston, TX 77035.  Pre-sale tickets are students $4, adults $6, and all tickets at the gate are $8.  Go Spartans!

The Lady Spartans Volleyball Team beat Yates in the first round of the play-offs but lost to Hamshire-Fannett in the second round.  Congratulations Ladies on having a great season and earning  the title of District 24-3A runner-up!  Go Spartans!

This past Saturday, 43 Stafford Middle School Band members earned seats in All-Region Bands at the Junior High ATSSB All – Region Band Auditions!  Competing against  over 500 students from schools throughout the region, the students earned chairs in one of the three bands, and three additional students are alternates.   Go Spartans!

The Stafford Secondary Schools have a student driven Spartan Network program.  Stafford Municipal Education Television visited the class and created a video that aired on the Stafford Weekly News.  The video can be viewed at the link that follows or from the NEWS page at the SMSD website.  http://youtu.be/0CDZ8NpserA

With financial support from the City of Stafford, the section of Staffordshire Road from 5th Street to Scanlin Road is being expanded to four lanes.   The $3.5 million road expansion project will significantly benefit the district but will come with inconveniences.  Beginning around November 15th, the Texas Department of Transportation will begin the installation of storm drains on the east side of Staffordshire Road.  This part of the project will involve periodic closures to entrances to the SMSD complex at Constitution, Spartan and Red & Gold during the weekends.  Updates will be given periodically by email and out-dialer messages.

Great things are happening at SMSD!
