Missouri City police chief will be leaving

Missouri City’s Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald, 42, will probably be leaving soon, if his new job as police chief is confirmed by the City Council in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he will be relocating.  He’s been the police chief in Missouri City for four years. According to reports, he would be the first minority in the post in the city’s 251-year history.  Accounts state that Fitzgerald was in Allentown this Monday.

A 12-month national search to replace the retiring police chief turned up Fitzgerald’s resume, which made it to the top of more than 50 for the position.  He became a finalist in September after an interview.

Reportedly, Fitzgerald said his first goal as chief in Allentown would be to build trust with the residents, as he said he did in Missouri City.
