Handled-by

By LeaAnne Klentzman

Long ago, in a faraway galaxy, “Handled-by” was a term used by the popo to indicate that they had handled the problem; no report taken, no report necessary.

Well, in an interesting and harrowing collection of events over the weekend… a resident in rural Fort Bend County took Handled-by into his own hands.

As the weekend began to wrap up, an incident broke loose in the north section of Fort Bend County. That incident was followed by a brief pursuit which ended somewhat south of the initial Brew ha-ha. As officers from all over Fort Bend County barreled into the northern sections … the pursuit ended and those not already on the pursuit scene were directed over to the initial incident scene.

So, visualize this… cops everywhere, they were looking over the original scene, talking to those at the scene, milling about looking for whatever, when… Bang! Bang! Bang! Yep, that would be SHOTS FIRED!! SHOTS FIRED!! Out in the middle of nowhere FBC, where you can’t even buy a streetlight!

Well, after everyone made sure they weren’t shot and dusted off from the tuck and roll into the closest tailpipe…. They discovered it was not a rowdy participant at the initial Brew ha-ha, it was a neighbor.

So off goes the Posse! When they arrive at the shooting scene, they discover a surprised neighbor… seems he had Handled-by some skunks that were damaging his property. Suffices to say, the skunk stalker had no clue the popo were ganged up over on a nearby road like a casting call for Hill Street Blues!

It’s been a looong time since a “SHOTS FIRED!” has been Handled-by.
