Betty Jane Barton

Betty Jane Barton:  Age 93 of Missouri City, Texas passed away peacefully 11-19-2013.

She was born February 29, 1920 in Troy Ohio.

She married Chalmer A. Barton in 1945 and withstood the many years of World War II to be reunited with her husband after the war, at which time he took a position with his family’s feed and grain business that encompassed Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

They moved to Pennsylvania and spent10 years in a two story white colonial home.

After a 10 year stay they moved back to Ohio, to the town of Dayton where they purchased a hardware store that provided them a nice living for the next 20 years.

They moved to Houston, Texas around 1980 where Chalmer took a position with Bering’s Home Center and Betty found a position with Dillard’s running their linen department.

As time went by, Betty left Dillard’s and also took a position with Bering’s Home Center in their gift department.

Betty lost her husband in 2000, but continued a busy life with volunteer work, persistent exercising at the local YMCA and an active part in her church, Christ United Methodist.

She is survived by her son, Gerald S. Barton and his wife Barbara, daughter, Bonnie Reedy and her husband, Lee, grandsons, Jamie Reedy, Kelly Reedy and James J. Barton.

A memorial will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land, Texas on December 11, 2013 at 11AM.
