Driving in the oncoming lanes of US 90A in Richmond got a woman a trip to the Fort Bend County Jail courtesy of the Richmond police department.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning, near the apron of the Brazos River Bridge, a woman from Inez, Texas was arrested for DWI after she nearly hit a Rosenberg police car head-on as she drove on the wrong side of the divided highway into oncoming traffic.

According to Richmond Police Department Master Sergeant Lowell Neinast, Pamela Kay Charbula, 50, was arrested and charged with DWI after nearly plowing headlong into the police car. According to Neinast, Charbula was headed west bound into Richmond on US 90A from Houston but was traveling in the eastbound lanes. Neinast said Richmond Police Officer Phillip Jackson was investigating the incident and learned that Charbula had been drinking prior to the stop. Also during the stop officers learned that Charbula had just purchased a pound of marijuana which they discovered in her vehicle.

Charbula was arrested and charged with DWI and possession of marijuana, both felonies. At press time she was in the Fort Bend County jail.
