Major accident takes life of Alamo Texas man
By LeaAnne Klentzman
Early Sunday morning about 6:40 a.m., Sugar Land Police responded to a major accident at US 90A at Dairy Ashford. According to police spokesman Doug Adolph, “A witness told officers that a Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound on Dairy Ashford ran a red light and struck a Dodge Charger traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 90A.”
Adolph said that part of the ensuing investigation included a review of red light camera images which revealed that the witness’ observation or recollection did not match with the images captured by the camera. What the images revealed, according to police, was that Carlos Ybarra, Jr. 25, of Alamo, who was driving a Charger, ran a red light and struck the Tahoe. Ybarra died at the scene.
Adolph said the driver of the Tahoe was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Herman in critical condition. Adolph confined that at the time of the accident there was one person in each vehicle.
The intersection was closed for several hours.
