The Afterburner 12/18/13

Lost in translation: Lawd Help, if I’d done it on purpose it would have been far more clever!
In an effort to keep everyone updated last week I listed all the local candidates for the March Primary. While typing that list I made a mistake; my bad! I don’t know who to apologize to first, a candidate for misplacing his initial or the other party who was offended by having that candidate linked to them. Decisions, decisions, decisions….
Where to begin? I will start by saying Sorry D.F. “Rick” Miller for missing the R in front of your alphabet soup listing. It should have read: R) D.F. “Rick” Miller. And to the Democrats, my bad, believe me, it was a typo, and I am so sorry for associating that candidate with your party.
Now, that said, the vitriol this has brought forth is interesting. Are we only a label? What does that label really say about you? Interestingly when you talk, one on one, to most folks, they don’t seem to be as carpet chewing crazy about their political ideology as they do in a group. There are studies on that, really. However it seems we have found ourselves on the brink of not even being able to play in the same yard. That yard is what connects honest, hardworking, compassionate Americans together to form our great Nation.
Think about it, is there any wonder why we are at such an impasse in Washington, just listen to the talking heads on “your” channel or “theirs.” It is enough to make you run screaming from the house. It is just NASTY! Shame on us all for allowing bottom-feeding, hate spewing, and partisan talking-heads, embarrass us across the globe. They are whipping folks into frenzy for their own ratings, quit being a tool for them.
It is Christmas and a time for Christians to celebrate the birth of their savior; as you gather with family to celebrate the birth of Jesus, reach out and touch the lives of those around you. Pray for them with the same lips and tongue that you have used to lash your opponents with, it will make you a better person.
Tis the season of Blessings and new beginnings.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
