Classes to begin February 15

Applications now being taken for Spring 2014 Master Naturalist training

The Texas Master Naturalist Program, Coastal Prairie Chapter, is now taking applications for the Spring 2014 training program.  Classes and field work provide training in natural history, wildlife, and the ecosystems of the area.

The Texas Master Naturalist Program is a volunteer training program sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and AgriLife Extension.  Its goal is to help improve volunteers’ understanding of natural resources and related management activities, enabling them to earn Master Naturalist certification.

Master Naturalists volunteer in their communities, providing natural resource education and participating in community service and outreach projects. Volunteers are trained to help ensure that people will be able to enjoy the natural Texas for years to come.  A wide variety of topics are covered including bird study, botany, ecology, weather/climate, mammals and soil science among others.

Classes start Saturday, February 15, and will be held at various locations in Fort Bend and Waller Counties. There are eleven classes, most of which will be on held on Saturdays. Four of the classes will be held on Monday or Friday evenings through mid-May. Tuition is $150 and class size is limited.
