Fort Bend Libraries can now accept donations online

The ability to support your library with charitable contributions has become easier than ever. Fort Bend County Libraries now has the ability to accept donations online with a credit-card payment.

To donate online, go to the FBCL website – www.fortbend.lib.tx.us – and click on the “Online Donations” tab. The donor may select a particular library branch or the FBCL system as a whole as the recipient for the donation.

The library accepts VISA, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards, as well as debit cards that display the MasterCard or VISA symbol and do not require a PIN. The minimum amount that can be charged to a credit card is $5, and the library does not charge a convenience or service fee for use of a credit card.

Credit-card information is encrypted before it is transmitted via a secure gateway connection. The lock symbol on the browser will indicate a secure connection. Payment information will not be shared or used for any other purpose that that of the immediate transaction.

Since credit- and debit-card donations cannot be accepted by telephone, mail, or email, the online donation option is a convenient new alternative. Donors may also make donations with their credit-cards in person at any of the FBCL branch libraries.

If the donor prefers to use cash or checks for payment, those donations can be made by visiting any FBCL branch library. A donation form can be downloaded from the FBCL website and included with the payment. Donations made with checks can be mailed, along with the completed donation form, to the Business Office at Fort Bend County Libraries, 1001 Golfview, Richmond, Texas, 77469.

Monetary gifts to the library can be made in memory of someone, in celebration of a special event, or simply to support the library. Donating money to the library in someone’s name is a thoughtful gift that honors the person in whose name the purchase is made, and it will also benefit Fort Bend County Libraries for many years to come.

The donor may also request to have an acknowledgement card sent on his or her behalf to the person or family for whom the gift is being made. The library will need the address of the honoree or family for this option.

A gift to Fort Bend County Libraries will provide the support necessary for the library to continue to meet the challenges and needs of the diverse population of the communities being served. Donations can be designated for adult materials and programs, for youth materials and programs, or for a specific collection, such as that in the Genealogy and Local History department.

All donations are tax-deductible. For more information, call the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677, or any branch library.
