Missouri City’s Texas Parkway widening project began January 13

The Texas Department of Transportation will manage the Texas Parkway widening project that will involve specified areas of Texas Parkway being expanded from two lanes to four, the installation of a concrete median and the construction of three sound walls to protect residential areas from traffic noise.

Crews have begun the work and the contractor has approximately one year to complete the improvements. Impacted areas are from Cartwright Road to Turtle Creek Drive.

Department of Transportation officials have notified the city that motorists will be able to maintain regular travel patterns as one east- and one west-bound lane will be open for the duration of the project. Work will be performed in phases with lane transitioning; and traffic barriers will be in place. A detour will not be in effect. Motorists may take alternate routes if they so choose.

The city appreciates residents’ patience while the mobility improvements are made. For updates, please watch the City website: www.missouricitytx.gov and Missouri City Television (Ch. 16 on Comcast and Ch. 99 on AT&T U-verse.)
