Skeeters Hot Stove Banquet set for January 30 at Constellation Field
As a part of the 2nd Annual Skeeters Hot Stove Banquet on Thursday, January 30, the organization will recognize the annual introduction of the 16-member All-Greater Houston Preseason High School Baseball Team, as selected by the Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association.
The HABCA has also named Cypress Ranch High School Head Baseball Coach John Pope as the recipient of the 2014 Ray Knoblauch Coaching Award, which will also be given at Constellation Field.
The Ray Knoblauch Coaching Award is given by the HABCA to one deserving high school baseball coach who has devoted his life to the development of baseball programs in the Houston area. Pope will take home the honor this year, having served as the Mustangs’ head coach since 2008 and led the school to a Class 5A State Championship title in 2012. Houston native and KPRC Local 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy, who played baseball for Ray Knoblauch at Bellaire High School, will be on hand to present this year’s award.
