City of Richmond to rebuild East Laurel Oaks

The City of Richmond continues to improve the streets across the Community.  A contract has been prepared and accepted for a major rebuild of East Laurel Oaks Drive in Richmond.  The project was awarded to Gonzalez Construction Enterprise, Inc., at the City Commission Meeting on January 21.

The construction contract includes – paving, drainage, water, and sanitary sewer replacement. Terri Vela, City Manager said “The City continues to evaluate the conditions of the streets in town and will continue to prioritize the construction of the streets once funding is provided.”

The entire street will be rebuilt with a new water and sewer system being put in place at the same time.  The construction is scheduled to begin in February and will last for approximately five (5) months, weather pending.

The contractor will be working with the residents of East Laurel Oaks to help reduce the impact of the construction. Although the project may present some minor inconveniences for some residents, the overall outcome of the project will be well worth it in the end.  There were a total of four (4) construction bids received for this project.
