QV Proud Hotline 01/29/14

WHY NO HOTLINE ON JANUARY 15th? There was a “rash” of Spam Emails circulating in our area that week. My HOTLINE was apparently blocked and the STAR Editor did not receive it until the Deadline had passed for the layout of that issue.

WHY WAS THE JANUARY 22nd HOTLINE “outdated”? Half of the January 15th HOTLINE was not time sensitive so I chose to run it on January 22nd. My apologies to our readers.

NO GIRL SCOUTS KNOCKING? Beginning February 21st, there will be “cookie booths” outside grocery stores and other retail venues. All cookie sales end March 30th.

MISSED THE Elkins High School VIPS/PTO “Fund Raiser” on Saturday, January 18th ??? For “late” drop off locations go to

WHAT HAPPENS TO ELKINS DONATED ITEMS? They will be sold to a textile recycling company to raise funds to beautify the Elkins HS patio and to purchase a digital marquee.

FREE!!! MAH JONGG CLASS: 101. Thursday, February 6th, 1 pm at Rec & Tennis Center in Quail Valley. This is a Chinese board game that has swept the globe in its increasing popularity. Come learn this international phenomenon in a friendly atmosphere. Pre-registration encouraged. Call front desk of Rec & Tennis Center (281) 403-8637.

SAVE YOURSELF SOME TIME. Avoid portions of Highway 6 by driving from Riverstone to Sienna Plantation via LJ Parkway to Sienna Springs Drive. NOTE: eventually LJ Parkway will connect the Fort Bend Parkway to Commonwealth Blvd.

THANK YOU TO OUR MISSOURI CITY GREEN VOLUNTEERS: The “entrance bed” to the Tennis & Recreation Center in QV has been transformed into a native plant & butterfly garden. MC Green volunteers purchased and helped plant the new plants and created an interpretation sign for the location. When spring arrives this area will be highly attractive to butterflies and humming birds.

HELP PROUD SPONSOR QV PROJECTS: Mail your (tax deductible) donation of $25 or more to: Frost Bank, Lock box Department, Quail Valley PROUD, P. O. Box 367 Dept. 06, Houston, Texas 77001.
