ADL co-sponsors community-wide program on the Holocaust
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is co-sponsoring Clements High School Teacher Mike Madden’s The Shoah program this year which will feature the documentary “Rescue in the Philippines”, about the rescue of 1,300 Jews from Nazi-occupied Europe during the Holocaust.
The film will be shown from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 5 in the auditorium at Clements High School, 4200 Elkins Road, Sugar Land. A question-and-answer session with the documentary’s producer, Barbara Sasser, and Holocaust survivor Ursula Progl, who was a refugee in the Philippines, will take place from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. Both will be available for interviews before and after that film.
The evening also will feature a viewing of the “Hall of Remembrance,” a compendium of Holocaust-related artworks and projects created by Madden’s U.S. History students from 4 to 9 p.m., a multi-media docudrama produced by Madden entitled “The Shoah” from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m., and “Scenes from Theresienstadt Concentration Camp” performed by the Clements High School Symphonic Band at 6:00 p.m.
