Oh, what a blast! 2014 Fort Bend Chamber Chairman’s Gala out of this world
Greeted by an astronaut statue on the landing of the stairs of the “launch location,” the Safari Texas Ranch, you instantly knew this Chairman’s Gala hosted by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce was going to be spacey fun. It also turned out to be a momentary blast from the past with music and antics to match the out of this world experience on stage.
Dana Atkinson of Anson Aviation and his lovely wife, Jackie, were spotted at the reception before dinner along with Chamber President/CEO Keri Schmidt, 2014 Chamber Chairman Glenn Smith and so many distinguished others like Nancy and Steve Porter, Joe Zimmerman, Drs. Sam and Kimberly Cress, Dee Koch, Chris Morales, Don Smith, Rick Staigle, James Patterson and Larry Pullen to name but a few.
Incoming Chamber Chairman Smith had said the Gala held this past Saturday would give members a chance to meet in a festive setting, putting aside business issues and simply enjoying one another’s company.
With two lit green alien heads on headbands donning the top of just about everyone’s heads merrily bobbing as they went into the “Jupiter Lounge,” the feel of the evening was indeed about fun. The Jupiter Lounge, btw, is where the Fried Ice Cream Band entertained guests with their dancing tunes.
The great turnout had sponsors from Mission Control, Lunar Landing, and Astronaut Crews, with BB&T doing the honors as the presenting sponsor of the entire gala. If the Chamber is the Space Station, it no doubt intends to continue to carry on its business organization mission aiming at “the final frontier” as its advocate “to boldly go where no man has gone before.”
