Much a do about groundhog day
Should Fort Bend have an equivalent?
This past Sunday was groundhog day, celebrated on Feb. 2 in the U.S. annually. The groundhog saw his shadow and there will be six more weeks of winter. If he had not seen his shadow, spring would be right around the corner. This groundhog prediction is a part of the American culture in the east coast, but in Texas, there could be others as the winter or even summer prognosticators. Why in Bee Cave, Texas, we hear that there’s an Armadillo Day and “our armadillo will tell us what to expect,” has been what one local there has said with the in and out of a hole sighting. Out of the hole means spring is around the corner; but, if the armadillo returns to his hole, there will be more winter.
What about Fort Bend, should this area do it with opossums? Other animals? In the summer, winter? And what would you have them do?
