Free family movie matinees offered during spring break
Fort Bend County Libraries will feature free Family Movie Matinees for Spring Break at the Sienna Branch Library, 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City, in March.
The special feature on Tuesday, March 11, is a 2006 film based on a hugely popular book written by Thomas Rockwell, in which a young boy accepts a cuisine-challenged dare by the school bully to eat ten worms in one day. This film is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the library.
On Thursday, March 13, families will be treated to a remake of a popular children’s book written by Roald Dahl. Matilda Wormwood is an extremely curious and intelligent little girl who is very different from her low-brow, mainstream parents (played by Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman), who cruelly ignore her. As she grows older, she discovers she has telekinetic powers that enable her to move objects with her mind. Matilda soon learns how to harness these powers to thwart villains and to help alleviate the sufferings of her friends as well as her own. This film is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the library.
The movies are free and open to the public. Movie-goers are invited to bring a blanket and pillow. Refreshments will be available. The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
For more information about the featured movies, call the branch library at 281-238-2900 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
