New ESL Book Club for non-English speakers starts in March

An E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) Book Club will begin meeting at George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond, on Thursday, March 6, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Learning Lab on the first floor of the library. The first book to be discussed is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, a novel written by Mark Haddon.

This new monthly book club is for adults whose native language is not English, who enjoy reading, and who would like an opportunity to practice their English reading and conversational skills in a relaxed setting with other like-minded individuals. The book club will meet on the first Thursday of every month. One book will be selected to read each month, and members will discuss the story in English at the book-club meeting.

Copies of the book are available at the Literacy Services office in the Adult Services department of the library.

The book club is free and open to the public. For more information, call the library’s Literacy Services office at 281-341-2652.
