Students enjoyed their time with seniors making placentas.

In November, the 6th grade classes of St. Laurence Catholic School in Sugar Land, participated in an engaging service project at the Mamie George Center in Fort Bend County.

Along with ARTreach, a non-profit arts and educational outreach service, the 6thgraders enjoyed creating colorful Thanksgiving placemats with many smiling senior citizens in our community.  Time together, art, and conversation between the different generations were enjoyed by all.

After a picnic lunch in the park, the 6th graders continued the afternoon of service with  volunteer work at Trini’s Corner Market, a  self- select food pantry that allows residents and senior citizens, based on income and need, to supplement their food budget by selecting among fresh produce, meats, canned foods, breads and dry goods available.

The students provided many services that included sorting the inventory, stocking the shelves, cutting boxes, moving furniture, and other minor duties.
