2014 Special Needs Resource Fair and Senate Bill 7 Conference set for March 1
The Arc of Fort Bend invites families/friends/agencies/educators and everyone, to learn about resources for persons with special needs, including intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome and developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and/or MD regardless of IQ. The conference will be held Saturday, March 1, Dulles High School, 530 Dulles Ave, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Senate Bill 7, passed by the 2013 Texas legislature, will change the State’s system for delivering Medicaid Waiver programs to individuals with ID/DD. If your loved one is currently enrolled in a Medicaid Waiver program or has been placed on a 10-15 year “waiting” or “interest” list through DADS, Texana Center or your local MHMRA, learn about the proposed shift to a “Managed Health Care” system. All Medicaid Waiver programs will be affected by this transfer including HCS, CLASS, MDCP, TXHL, CBA and BDMD.
