City officials educate Quail Valley MS students on leadership roles
More than 60 student leaders from Quail Valley Middle School had the opportunity to meet with professionals from the City of Missouri City to learn about their roles in city government during the City’s Young Ambassadors Program. The educational event served as the perfect activity to inform students about the daily operations of city government and how they can become contributing members of society.
The students toured City Hall and met with City of Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen and other city leaders, including City Council Member Floyd Emery, City Manager Edward Broussard, Assistant City Manager Scott Elmer, Interim Chief of Police Michael Berezin, Assistant Director of Finance Michael Higgins, Director of Human Resources Edward Williams, Director of Parks and Recreation Larry Foos, Firefighter Peter Ondrusko, and Director of Communications Stacie Walker.
Following their tour of City Hall, the students joined the city officials at a working lunch at Quail Valley’s City Centre. Mayor Owen joined the officials in explaining their roles in government and the role of city council. Owen also invited students to attend council meetings to address issues and concerns of their communities.
