Body of man found in truck

At press time there is still no confirmed identity for the body discovered Monday just outside of Richmond in Fort Bend County.

Monday morning a Sheriff’s deputy was sent to 5400 block of Riverwood just outside of Richmond to investigate what was determined to be a deceased man in a silver Dodge pickup truck.

As the case was near the border of their respective jurisdictions both the Richmond Police Department and the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office looked into the incident. As evidence began to come together it was determined that the incident that possibly led to the man’s death might well have occurred in the city of Richmond.

According to Richmond police spokesman Master Sergeant Lowell Neinast, “Sunday night at about 10:00 pm., Richmond police received a third party call reporting two males beating a third male and dragging him to a silver truck.” Neinast said the caller told the dispatcher it was all occurring in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1930 Rock Falls in Richmond.

When Richmond officers arrived on the scene they were unable to locate the truck or any people. However, at about 7:15 Monday morning Richmond police took a missing persons report on a man believed to be driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck. Neinast said it was not long after the missing persons report was taken that a Sheriff’s deputy found the body of a man in a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck registered to the individual who was reported missing.

Riverwood, while in the county’s jurisdiction, is not far from the apartment complex on Rocky Falls in Richmond. Neinast said there were indications that the body of the man found in the Dodge had been beaten.

The victim will be positively identified during an autopsy and then his identity will be released. There has been no mention of suspects thus far in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Master Sgt. Neinast at (281) 342-2849 or Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
