Fort Bend ISD announces 2014 Summer School Schedule 

Fort Bend ISD will offer two secondary summer school sessions this year. The first session will take place June 9 through June 26; the second session will begin July 14 and end July 31.

Students attending the regular middle school and high school program will attend Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. High school students attending the AP/PreAP summer school program will attend school Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

High School

Fort Bend ISD’s high school summer program will be offered at Austin High School (3434 Pheasant Creek Dr., Sugar Land 77498) and Marshall High School (1220 Buffalo Run, Missouri City 77489). High school students entering ninth grade and those who currently attend Austin, Bush, Clements, Kempner and Travis will attend Austin this summer. Students entering ninth grade and those who currently attend Dulles, Elkins, Hightower, Marshall, Ridge Point and Willowridge will attend Marshall.

Middle School

Middle school students will attend summer school at one of two locations: Crockett Middle School (19001 Beechnut, Richmond 77407) or Missouri City Middle School (202 Martin Lane, Missouri City 77489). Students who currently attend Bowie, Crockett, Dulles, Garcia, Hodges Bend, Sartartia and Sugar Land will attend summer school at Crockett. Missouri City will serve as host to students who currently attend: Baines, First Colony, Fort Settlement, Lake Olympia, McAuliffe, Missouri City and Quail Valley.

Secondary School Registration and Cost

Students may register online through Fort Bend ISD’s Family Access beginning April 1 through June 4. Students will be dropped from courses on June 4 if payment has not been made by 5:00 p.m. Students must be enrolled at a Fort Bend ISD school and obtain counselor permission in order to enroll in any summer school program. Locations and times for walk-in registration will be announced in the near future.

The cost to attend a summer school session will vary depending upon the student’s needs. Upon completion of one session, the student will earn .5 school credits. Students who wish to earn 1.0 credit will sign up to attend both sessions. Registration for both sessions can be done at the same time.

• Remedial Credit Courses are for students who are repeating a course. Tuition for Remedial Credit Courses is $50 per .5 credit course and includes transportation. The cost for students who are currently served by the Free and Reduced Lunch Program will be $25 per .5 credit course including transportation.

• Original Credit Courses are for students who are taking a course for the first time. Tuition for an Original Credit Course is $520 per 1.0 credit course and $260 per .5 credit course. Students who are currently served by the Free and Reduced Lunch Program will pay $260 per 1.0 credit course and $130 per .5 credit course. Transportation is included in tuition cost.

• AP/PreAP Credit Courses are for high school students only. Tuition for students who wish to enter this program is $650 per 1.0 credit course and $400 per .5 credit course. Free and Reduced Lunch students will pay $325 per 1.0 credit course and $200 per .5 credit course. The cost for students to attend does not include transportation.

Student Success Initiative (SSI) Program – 5th and 8th grade only

SSI summer school programs provide students the opportunity to be academically successful on the third administration of the Reading and Math STAAR assessment. This program will be offered to current fifth and eighth graders. Students will attend this program at Crockett Middle School or Missouri City Middle School from June 9 through June 25. (See middle school feeder pattern above.) There is no tuition fee for this program and transportation is provided.

In addition, a new elementary district-wide SSI summer school program will be offered to current fifth graders. Students enrolled in this program will attend Drabek or Schiff Elementary School from June 9 through June 25.  There is no tuition fee for this program and transportation is provided.

Students from the following campuses will attend Schiff Elementary: Armstrong, Austin Parkway, Blue Ridge, Briargate, Burton, Colony Bend, Colony Meadows, Commonwealth, Dulles, Glover, Goodman, Heritage Rose, Highlands, Hunters Glen, Jones, Lantern Lane, Lexington Creek, Palmer, Parks, Quail Valley, Ridgegate, Ridgemont, Scanlan Oaks, Schiff, Settlers Way and Sienna Crossing.

Students from these campuses will attend Drabek: Barrington Place, Brazos Bend, Cornerstone, Drabek, Fleming, Holley, Jordan, Lakeview, Meadows, Mission Bend, Mission Glen, Mission West, Oakland, Oyster Creek, Pecan Grove, Seguin, Sugar Mill, Townewest and Walker Station.
