Richmond Murder victim identified – one arrested

By LeaAnne Klentzman

RichmondMurderAs the “Star” went to press last week a man had just been found dead in his truck just outside of the Richmond city limits in Fort Bend County’s jurisdiction.

The murder victim has been identified as Navor Flores Catalan, 54, of Richmond. According to Richmond Police spokesman Master Sergeant Lowell Neinast, Catalan’s badly beaten body was discovered in his truck in the Riverwood subdivision.

Neinast said, “Circumstances surrounding the death of Navor Catalan are still under investigation but the case is being considered a homicide.” While following leads in the death investigation, police talked with Edilberto Navarro-Rebollar, 31, of Richmond. During the conversation about the death of Catalan, Navarro bolted from police; evading arrest, when the conversation turned to the events surrounding the homicide, said Neinast. However, Navarro has not been charged with homicide at this point.

According to Neinast, an anonymous tip led police to Navarro. It was Navarro’s actions that led to his arrest during the interview process Monday night at 10:30 in the 23700 block of the Southwest Freeway.

Richmond Police Detectives are still asking anyone with information on this case to contact the Richmond Police Department at (281) 342-2849 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at (281) 342-TIPS (8477).

Information, which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspect(s) involved, could earn you up to $5,000 cash reward.

All calls to Crime Stoppers are ANONYMOUS.
